What should one come with on the Gorilla tracking day

On your Gorilla tracking date, you will present your self at the park headquarters for a briefing and orientation by the rangers on the general way of conduct during the Gorilla tracking experience. You should also have a Gorilla tracking permit in order to track these Gorillas.
Gorilla permits have to be booked in advance (up to one year in advance). you can book the Gorilla permits through your travel agents.
Just like the name states, you will pass through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forests when tracking the Gorillas. We therefore recommend you come along with a light rain jacket, sun glasses, hand gloves, small bag to carry packed food and water, insect repellent and comfortable hiking shoes.

During the Gorilla tracking experience

After the briefing and orientation by the guides, you will enter into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and start hiking towards the forest in search for these rare Mountain Gorillas. You will have your packed lunch with you because the tracking experience takes up to 8 hours depending on the location of the Gorillas. During the hiking experience, you may encounter other different animal and bird species.
Once the Gorillas have been tracked, you will be given one hour to interact, take pictures and videos. This is a perfect and life time opportunity where you will have precious time with these gorillas. After tracking the gorillas, you will then hike back to the park headquarters for your Gorilla tracking certificates.

Later in the evening if time permits, you will have a community walk to the local Batwa communities for a cultural experience. These people live in the forests and have got very interesting and unique ways of life that will give you another memorable encounter with the African cultures.
